ESA’s European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) in Darmstadt is one of the agency’s operational backbones, and ESA reports ESOC has successfully operated over 90 missions across decades of activity.
On the Earth observation side, ESA plays a central role in Copernicus and the Sentinel family. ESA notes that Sentinel-4 launched on 1 July 2025 (hosted on MTG-S), and Sentinel-5 launched on 13 August 2025 (hosted on MetOp-SG).
